Context
This game was made during the Game Maker's Toolkit Game Jam (11/06/2021 - 13/06/2021) by Mélanie Barco (Texture/Lighting), Allan Guis (3D), Paul de Laubadere (Developer), Jérémy Payre (Developer) and Quentin Pereira (GD/LD).
The theme was: Joined Together.
- Players: 1 or 2 (same screen)
- Controller: 1 Pad for both players
Story
You and your magician friend are working on a new experience, but things go wrong when you misspell a formula and trigger an animal rain. Hurry-up, use the magic carpet to put them in pairs in their cage!
Objective
In Bouncing Zoo you have to make the best score before the timer's end. To do it, you need to send animals in front of the doors and pair them.
Score
You gain points at the floor where you pair animals
- First floor: 100 points
- Second floor: 200 points
- Third floor: 300 points
If you pair wrong animals you do not lose points, but animals disappear.
Controls
- LS to control the left character (or QD)
- LT to pull the left carpet corner (or Z)
- RS to control the right character (or Left & Right arrow)
- RT to pull the right carpet corner (or Up arrow)
Magic carpet behavior
The more stretch the carpet is (distance between two players) the higher the animals are bouncing.

That was fun...even if I'm not really good at this game (my best is 900 😭) !Interactions between the two characters are well thought, the fact that you can move faster if the two characters are moving in the same direction and the mechanics of the stretching carpet is well done too.
I really like the physics of the game, the bouncing effect is satisfying, it is really fun to see animals collides to each other and you can feel the weight of each animals. You do not behave the same with a rabbit or with an elephant
I played it alone but I'm pretty sure it is a lot of fun to play with a friend too!
Maybe you could add some explanations directly on the wall behind the two characters to make it clearer for the player that the higher you put animals, the higher you score increase. What's more, at first, I just thought that I had to put only one animal in each box. It is only after my first game that I understood that we had to pair animal together to earn points. My bad I guess, I should have red the description of the game, but I guess that if I've done it, I won't be the only one. Anyway, the feedbacks are clear enough to let you understand the rules of your game.
All in all, a fun game with cool physics and interactions, looks like you had fun crafting it, GG !
Thank you for enjoying our game !
